Jail Time

Thought everyone would like this article about the races in Ontario jails, even Ms.Le.

  1. Thanks for sharing this article, Aiden. When I first saw it, I automatically thought of our class.

I think that it is incredibly said that this disparity exists in Canada. We often pat ourselves on our backs and claim that racism doesn't exist in Canada. We know this to be folly.

I also strongly believe that young offenders DO NOT belong in jails. I believe strongly that young offenders can be rehabilitated to become functioning and contributing members of society.

Jail, even youth jails, often do not provide the support that young offenders need and deserve. I do not blame the workers of these facilities. I am sure they are doing the best they can. I think we need to work as a society to provide social programs to give disadvantaged youth hope for a bright future.
